Meet the Captain and First Mate

It all started with a game of “what if”. What if you won a million dollars? What if you could do anything? What if you didn’t have to work?

With that dream-filled diversion, my husband and I started moving towards our “what ifs”. We said “I would be on the water.” We said “I would own a sailboat.” We said “Why not?” And so we bought our first sailboat. Expanded on our dream. And then bought our second sailboat that we named Second Wind.

This is the story of our journey – from playing the game to getting in the game. Follow us as we follow our dream.

Dawna Bate currently lives in Waterloo, Ontario, Canada with her husband David. Although living in land-locked suburbia (where the only thing close to open water is the name of the city), they make the trek as often as possible to their Hunter 36 in Port Dalhousie, St. Catharines, Ontario.
